March 22: Hood’s history documented in newly released book

FREDERICK—A book documenting the history of Hood College has been recently issued.

Hood College will be released Feb. 25 by Arcadia Publishing as part of its College History Series. Through text and more than 200 black-and-white photos, the 128-page book offers a glimpse of life and learning on campus from its earliest days to modern times.

The book represents a culmination of nearly five months of information gathering, research and writing. Jan Samet O’Leary, library director and archive curator, led the team effort. She was assisted by Phyllis Townsend, library collection development manager and archive curator; Krista Schaffert '04, director of advancement services and archive volunteer; Joy Derr, M.A. '93, C'03, former director of development communications and archive volunteer; and other staff and archives volunteers.

A book signing is scheduled for March 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick.
