The series will open June 30 with a return appearance by the Appalachian Wind Quintet, with soprano Jan Aaland. The varied program will include several songs from Mahler’s “Das Knaben Wunderhorn,” arranged for winds and soprano.

The annual Sidney Silverman Young Artist concert will be presented July 7, performed by outstanding students from Hood’s preparatory music division. A performance of Faure’s piano quartet, featuring guest artists Denise Nathanson, cello, and Noah Chaves, viola, will comprise the annual James Etchison Memorial Concert July 14 and mark the series’ 100th concert.

The July 21 concert, an all-Russian program, will include Arensky’s piano trio, Russian songs for bass and double bass obbligato and Gliere duos for violin and double bass. Jeffrey Tarr, bass, and David Lester, double bass, will be the guest artists.
