Oct. 1: German rock band performs free concert

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

FREDERICK, Md.—A free concert featuring a German rock band will be held Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Hodson Auditorium at Hood College.

The four-member band Artig, which hails from Bochum, Germany, performs music that is a mix of classical pop elements, fast rock and indie guitar riffs combined with lyrics—in German—that tell stories about the ups and downs of life, but also addresses international events.

Artig, which means "well behaved," was the 2011 winner of Schooljam, a battle-of-the-bands competition with more than 4,000 entries.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; no tickets are required and there is no reserved seating.

The concert is sponsored by Hood's department of foreign languages and literatures and the Charlotte Moran lecture fund.

For more information, contact Scott E. Pincikowski, professor of German, at 301-696-3473 or by email at
