FREDERICK, Md.—Hood College will celebrate its third annual “It’s On Us” campaign during the week of Oct. 16-22 to promote healthy dating relationships.
Students and members of the Title IX committee have planned a number of activities that will focus on issues of preventing sexual assault. A Red Flag Campaign on Oct. 16 will kick off the week when red flags will be posted around campus with messages in order to educate about unhealthy dating relationships, to take steps to intervene when necessary, and to empower students to build healthy relationships.
Participants will take the “It’s On Us” pledge to make a personal commitment to help keep men and women safe from sexual assault. The pledge drives are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17, 19 and 20 in the Whitaker Campus Center Commons.
Also on Oct. 20, everyone is encouraged to wear red to build awareness about unhealthy relationships. There will be a Red Flag Forum from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall, in which respectful discussions and conversations about relationships will be encouraged.
The “It’s On Us” initiative was started by the White House in September 2014 to provide tools for campuses and communities to combat sexual assault on college campuses.
