FREDERICK, Maryland—Hood College’s Student Musical Theatre will present “Little Shop of Horrors” April 6-9 in Hodson Auditorium in Rosenstock Hall.
The April 6, 7 and 8 shows will be at 7 p.m., and the April 9 show will be at 2 p.m. Carla Kronsbein ’17 is the director, Professor Lynn Staininger is the musical director, Becca Benson ’20 is the choreographer, Gabe Cassutto ’17 led set construction, and Michael Mannarino is the sound engineer. The lead roles include Zachary Peck ’19 as Seymour, Alli Skouras ’19 as Audrey, Rylie Benoit-Nobis ’19 as Mrs. Mushnik, Nik Smith ’19 as Dr. Orin Scrivello, and Cassutto as the voice of Audrey II.
In “Little Shop of Horrors,” meek flower shop assistant Seymour pines for co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant that he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds the plant its first victim, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. The show is sponsored by Time Bomb Tattoos, Hood College and Starbucks on Market Street in Frederick. “Little Shop of Horrors” is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. For more information, contact Kaylene Wright at email@example.com.
