Biography
Kathleen C. Bands, Ph.D., is vice president for undergraduate and graduate enrollment. She has been at Hood since 1984, has been a faculty member in the education department, associate dean of the graduate school and, most recently, dean of the graduate school.
She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina and her doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of Maryland. She also served on the faculty of Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., at James Madison University and the University of South Carolina.
Kathleen originally served on the faculty of Hood’s department of retailing, nutrition and interior design and, later, the education department. She is well known for her work in leadership studies and training and has extensive experience working with grants that focus on program development. She has more than 30 years of experience in higher education and holds a doctorate from the University of Maryland. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina. Prior to coming to Hood, she taught at the University of South Carolina and James Madison University. Hood’s National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education coordinator, leading Hood’s education department’s preparation for accreditation for its teacher preparation programs.
