Debra Callahan Smith works in the areas of curriculum development and performance assessment of children. She supervises student interns at Hood and in Frederick County Public Schools. Mrs. Smith's professional interests include emergent literacy and inclusion of children with special needs. She received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from James Madison University, and her master's degree from Hood College as a Reading Specialist. She comes to Hood after teaching kindergarten through 3rd grade and reading in Frederick County Public Schools for 35 years.
