Stewart joined the faculty at Hood in 2007 after spending a year as an NSF VIGRE postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland. She earned her Ph.D. in 2006 at the Johns Hopkins University, where her doctoral dissertation was on the existence of solutions to the wave equation on a waveguide. More recently, she was a senior investigator on a multi-year research project on classroom voting, Project MathVote: Teaching Mathematics with Classroom Voting, funded with an NSF-DUE grant. She is a Project NExT Fellow (2007 Sun Dot) and a member of the Mathematical Association of America. In addition she has served as a member of the MAA’s Committee on Minicourses and as the director of Section NExT for the MD-DC-VA section of the MAA.
