Jill Tysse earned her bachelor of science degree in mathematics and applied mathematics at University College, Cork, Ireland, in 2000 before going on to complete a master of science degree in mathematics and the foundations of computer science at the University of Oxford in England. In 2008, she earned her doctorate from the University of Virginia. Her dissertation involved group theory and algebraic combinatorics, studying the structures of the centers of spin symmetric and spin hyperoctahedral group algebras. She has ongoing research interests in applications of group theory.
