Environmental Biology, M.S.

Graduates earning a master's degree in environmental biology from Hood College:

  1. Learn problem solving and apply scientific method through:
    • Applying environmental science knowledge in solving environmental problems;
    • Designing experiments/studies using relevant literature and data to test hypotheses; and
    • Developing a thesis or independent project, characterized by a comprehensive review of the pertinent literature.
  2. Analyze and interpret data through:
    • Acquiring the ability to analyze and interpret quantitative scientific data;
    • Evaluating data and evidence to solve problems; and
    • Analyzing experimental and observational results by application of appropriate quantitative methods for the data type available.
  3. Effectively communicate scientific data through:
    • Communicating scientific information clearly, concisely and persuasively – in written form for technical and/or lay audiences, and
    • Communicating scientific information clearly, concisely and persuasively – in oral form for technical and/or lay audiences.
