This website has been designed to assist you in your transition to Hood. It will have links to all the forms that need to be completed, copies of orientation publications and other important information for you!

Orientation resource notebook
Check your Hood email for your Orientation Resource Notebook, which is sent to all new Hood students. It will contain everything you need to become familiar with Hood and the forms you need to submit to secure your place in the Class of 2019.
To ensure that you are placed in appropriate course levels or sections, first-year students are required to take placement tests in English composition, mathematics and a foreign language, or meet exemption requirements for each test. Placement tests may be taken beginning March 20, 2015.
Summer Orientation is designed as your initial transition to Hood! The program will teach you all about the Hood community and give you the opportunity to meet other new and returning students. This is also a time for your family members to learn more about Hood College and the services available for them.
It is a chance for you to:
- Visit the campus
- Meet with a Hood faculty member
- Confirm your course schedule
- Meet other members of the Class of 2019 and current Hood students
Summer Orientation begins with check-in from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Whitaker Campus Commons, and will end by 4 p.m.

Fall Orientation builds on the skills and information you received during Summer Orientation.
During Fall Orientation, the entire Class of 2019 will be on campus for the five-day mandatory program, held Thursday, Aug. 20 - Monday, Aug. 24, 2015. Residential students will move into their residence halls Thursday, Aug. 20.
Fall Orientation is designed to give you the skills and information that will make you a successful Hood student. You will:
- Meet faculty members in your academic area of interest
- Learn about support services at Hood
- Get acquainted with the surrounding Frederick community
- Spend time interacting with other members of the Class of 2019 and upperclassmen
There are several social events and entertainment planned for your enjoyment. Be sure to mark your calendars now for this important program!
