Greetings from Hood College (I always feel like a post card when I say that!). My name is Coleen Yazurlo and I work with first-year students from New Jersey, Anne Arundel County and Southern Maryland. While I was raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, I spent a good portion of my life in New Jersey, as that is where my family is from; I have great appreciation for good bagels, even better pizza, and I love that I don’t have to pump my own gas.
I graduated from college in 2010 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies, with concentrations in communications and education. Currently, I am working on my master’s degree in student affairs administration and am counting down to my graduation in May 2014.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy anything that involves sports—I’m a diehard college basketball fan (I’ve been to the NCAA tournament twice) and college football fan. I love to bake, but I cannot cook to save my life. If you were to walk in to my office, you would notice that I stare at a picture of the beach all day; it is my “happy place.” There is nothing better than getting up in the morning and going for a run on the boardwalk before working on your tan (or in my case, sunburn) all day! I watch The Bachelor religiously, but if you don’t I will not hold it against you.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing with you the opportunities that you could have if you chose to become a Blazer. I could go on and on about all the great things about being a student at Hood, but I’ll save that for when we get a chance to talk when you visit campus!
