Credit for Prior Learning

The classes students have taken, the projects they have organized, the ideas they have developed and the seminars they have attended can provide them with more than simply a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Applicants prior study and life experiences can translate into credits toward a Hood College degree.

Transferable credits

Hood College will accept up to 62 credits from an accredited community college and up to 94 credits from a four-year college or university. Students must complete their last 30 credits at Hood College.

An official evaluation by the Hood College registrar will be completed upon acceptance as a degree seeking candidate.

Generally, transfer credit is granted for academic courses that are clearly applicable to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and for which the student received a grade of C- or above.

Students who transfer to Hood College with an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree from an accredited community college in the state of Maryland will meet all Hood lower-level general education (core) requirements.
