Biography

Melanie Eyler is a familiar face at Hood, having served as the Events & Recruitment Coordinator in the Career Center and as the Administrative Assistant and Hood Start Coordinator in the Center for Academic Achievement & Retention (CAAR) prior to joining the Dean’s staff in April 2011. She has extensive experience providing administrative support in corporate, religious and academic settings. Her professional experience and passion for helping others makes her well suited to working with students, faculty and staff in a sensitive and confidential manner. As assistant to the vice president for student life and dean of students, Eyler provides administrative support on matters related to student and parental concerns, and inter- and intradepartmental matters. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the office, including maintaining the calendar, scheduling meetings, addressing complaints and making referrals. She serves as the initial contact for students in navigating campus life. Eyler also assists with special projects and programs that support the mission of the College and student life, in particular, and she serves as adviser to the Ionic Society, a highly select academic and student service organization.
