Dr. Kiran Chadda combined her love for psychology and teaching by taking on a career as a professor of psychology at Jai Hind College in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. She began teaching at Hood as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology in 1997. After attaining a master’s degree in industrial psychology from the University of Bombay, she went on to earn a master’s degree in human factor’s psychology and a Ph.D. in applied experimental psychology from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C.
For the past 11 years Dr. Chadda has served as the Director of Multicultural Affairs and International Student Programs. She was thrilled to take on an administrative role since it provided an opportunity to help multicultural and international students assimilate to their new surroundings and promote awareness about the many clubs and organizations on campus. She facilitates USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Services) compliance for undergraduate and graduate international students, monitors visa status changes, administers I-20’s, etc. She also serves as a co-advisor for Model U.N., the International Club and the Muslim Student Association.
She conducts diversity awareness workshops for students, faculty and staff and has presented at conferences held by NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Advisors). She is an AP reader for the Educational Testing Service. She is also an executive team member for Region 8 of NAFSA and the Washington Regional Task Force.
