As McHenry Dean of the Chapel at Hood College, Rev. Beth O’Malley offers spiritual support for the Hood College community, developing and implementing creative programming that enriches the religious, spiritual and intellectual lives of students, faculty and staff.
Before accepting the position at Hood, Rev. O'Malley served as pastor of churches in Connecticut, Ohio and Maryland. She also led a YMCA-based interdenominational Christian campus ministry that served three diverse urban colleges in northern Ohio -Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College-where she provided worship and educational programs, pastoral counsel and service/learning projects for students.
The Milford, Conn., native earned a bachelor's degree in Religion and English from Hiram College and a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School. She is active in the United Church of Christ and volunteers as a mediator with the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College and with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness.) Rev. O’Malley is also a member of the Association for the Contemplative Mind in Higher Education (ACMHE) and has a special interest in developing programs in meditation and mentoring.
