While also serving as the professional live-in staff member directly responsible for Meyran Hall and off-campus apartment housing, Mandy manages multiple aspects of the department’s day-to-day administration on a larger scale. Mandy provides oversight to educational components such as staff training, leadership development and in-hall educational programming. She also coordinates the application and hiring processes for resident assistants and desk attendants on a campus-wide basis.
Originally from Orange County, California, Mandy’s career in residence life has literally taken her across the country – from sunny Southern California, through the hill country of Texas, and now to beautiful Frederick, Maryland! Though heavily involved in student leadership throughout her college years, it wasn’t until her senior year that Mandy became a resident assistant. She instantly fell in love and began investigating and pursuing a professional career in student affairs. Prior to arriving at Hood College in 2014, Mandy worked as an area coordinator for five years, primarily at small, private liberal arts colleges. Mandy has a bachelor’s degree in theology from Vanguard University with an emphasis in youth leadership studies and a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Mandy and her husband, Chris, live in Meyran Hall.
