Biography
The director of residence life and judicial affairs plans and directs the administrative operation, financial affairs, and programmatic aspects of the department, including room assignments, support services, staffing and training, educational programming, policy/procedure development, judicial affairs management, and directly supervises all other members of the professional staff. The director also advises House Forum, Academic Judicial Council and the Conduct Hearing Board. The director reports to the vice president for student life and dean of students.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Zachary Luhman has served as director at Hood since summer 2008. His interest in student affairs began during his time as an undergraduate when he served in various areas of residence life including resident assistant, member of residence hall government, intern for residential education and summer programs, hearing board member, and departmental assistant. Luhman began his professional career in 2003 working in student activities, orientation, and residence life at a small, liberal-arts college, and thereafter worked with a variety of institutions as an assistant registrar, resident director, assistant director of residence life, and director of campus life and housing operations prior to arriving at Hood. Luhman holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a masters degree in Higher Education Administration from Boston College.
