Hood College Theatre

Hood College Theatre

Hood College Theatre was revived after years of hiatus in 2004 by former program director Jen Plants.  Her first show was Stop Kiss, by Diana Son. Following were After and The Strongerone act plays by August Strindberg; Tartuffe, by Moliere; Return of the Fifth Sister; The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde and directed by Patrick Kilpatrick; The Shape of Things by Dayle Ann Dodds; Lysistrata by Aristophanes; and Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello and directed by Tony Tsundias.

In 2008 the torch was passed to Professor Joe Brady, who began his debut at HCT with a steampunk junkyard version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  After breaking in the blackbox with Shakespeare, Professor Brady moved on to a large-cast production of Caucasian Chalk Circle, by Bertolt Brecht. Old Times by Harold Pinter was produced in the fall of 2010, and it was followed by an original long form improv production Mermaid Avenue. Cloud Nine, by Carol Churchill was the fall production of 2011.
