Why did you choose Hood College?

I chose Hood because it had everything I wanted (and more! I found out later) and because it had a friendly atmosphere. I feel welcomed everywhere I go on campus and I'm comfortable to just be me.

Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?

I participate in many leadership opportunities on campus. To name a couple, I am currently the associate chair of series events on the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and am the president of Meyran Hall. I love getting involved on campus and creating new diverse friendships with everyone I meet through the various events CAB and house council put together.

What did you gain from that experience?

I would have to say that the one thing that I gained from all my leadership experiences on campus is confidence. I did not come into this school with as much enthusiasm, social skills or the confidence to do anything like I have now. I have grown so much and it shows.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

I really loved Policies for Dollars my first year at Hood. It brought the entire residence hall together and created such a tight-knit community that we became a family. I am happy to say that two years later, in my junior year, we are still that family.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?

Professors speak to me like I'm on their level. They don't talk down to me as if I didn't know what I'm talking about. They speak "with" me. We agree and disagree on different topics, but overall we can talk to each other and it isn't intimidating in the least.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

I was surprised I could make friends so quickly! The very first day I came here I was surrounded by friends! It was amazing to me that we all clicked just like that. Snap! And here we are a couple years later and joke about living next to each other in a cul-de-sac. It wouldn't surprise me if that happened. Hood brought us all together and here we are to stay.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

My Web Development I class in my first semester at Hood. It opened up the world to me. I originally came into Hood wanting to be a psychology major and randomly decided to take web development just for fun. Well, that led to a computer science class and now I am pursuing a computer science degree with a web development minor. Because I was able to test the waters and take a class in which I was interested, I found what I enjoyed most and grew into my field of study.

When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I just love to hang with my friends. We spend time watching movies, going downtown or participating in one of the many events happening on campus. Any spare time I have I like to spend with the people with whom I am close.

What is your favorite campus event?

My favorite event on campus is without a doubt May Madness. It is the best event on campus! It goes on for weeks! There is so much to do and it really is one of the best times of my life. Each year I take away so many memories from May Madness that make me smile every time I think of them.
