Graduation Year: 2014 Major: Computer Science Minor: Mathematics and Web Development Home Town: Gaithersburg, Md. High School: Damascus High School Why did you choose Hood College? I chose Hood College for the atmosphere. When I visited it was small, beautiful, and the people were all open and friendly. It seemed like the perfect fit for me. Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus? I completed an internship this summer at a marketing research firm a few minutes from campus called M&RR. I am continuing it throughout the school year. What did you gain from that experience? Even though I interned at a smaller company, I gained a lot of real-world experience and learned a lot about the corporate lifestyle. I also got a taste of what life will be like in my chosen field of study. What is your most memorable experience at Hood? My most memorable experience was scoring an overtime game-winning goal against Goucher during my sophomore soccer season. It was an amazing feeling to have my teammates rush out onto the field and have the crowd going wild for me. What do you value most about your relationships with your professors? I value how much time out of class professors are willing to give to us. I have seen professors come in early, stay late and take on extra projects just to help out their students. To me that's special and it doesn't happen at every college. What is something that surprised you about Hood? One thing that surprised me early in my first semester was how easy it was to make friends. Everyone wanted to be friends with everyone else and it was rare that people did not get along. What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why? So far my most rewarding class has been calculus. It really taught me how to solve new problems on my own using skills I already had. When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time? My biggest hobby is soccer. I play for Hood and when we are not in season I try to train and play soccer year round. I am also a member of the Ping-Pong and computer science clubs. What is your favorite campus event? By far my favorite event(s) are the dances at Hood. Everybody goes and it is always a great night with a ton of fun. |
