Graduation Year: 2013 Major: Communication Arts Why did you choose Hood College? I graduated from Carroll Community College with my associate degree in May 2011. I applied to a number of four-year institutions, but when I visited Hood for the first time, I immediately knew it was the right fit for me. The campus is beautiful, the classes are small, and there is a lot of opportunity to get involved. Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus? Not yet! What is your most memorable experience at Hood? Making friends in general. When I first came, I only knew my roommates and a few other students. My first few weeks were very tough, but once I joined some clubs, I made amazing friends quickly. What do you value most about your relationships with your professors? They really care about your success in the class and making sure you understand what you need to know. If you are ever confused by an aspect of class, all you have to do is ask, and they are happy to work with you. What is something that surprised you about Hood? The school spirit! At my old college, we didn't have team sports or events that brought the whole school together. So when I went to various campus events and the first basketball game, I was amazed to see so many people there who were so enthusiastic about Hood College and the Blazers! What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why? This winter break, I went with the art and archaeology department on an Egypt out of Egypt trip. We went to London, Paris and Berlin, where we visited multiple museums such as the British Museum and the Louvre in Paris. Being able to see such amazing works of art in Europe was an experience I will never forget. When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time? I am involved with the choir, the musical theatre club, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I also enjoy hanging out in the dining hall and the Blazer with friends. What is your favorite campus event? So far, I really have enjoyed the various holiday and specialty meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. To see the president of the college cutting up my turkey was priceless. And from what I hear, May Madness is supposed to be an amazing event, so I am looking forward to experiencing it for the first time this year. |
