Why did you choose Hood College?

I crave creativity in my life. It is a force that drives me to do things above and beyond what I feel I am humanly capable of doing. Through music and art I can connect with others to share a message and touch a heart, or heal a soul. That is what is drew me to Hood. Hood talks about a creative approach to a serious education. I feel it is a place where I can offer all my talents and be involved in everything from the annual Luau on campus to an internship on Capitol Hill.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

My most memorable experience thus far was my first trip into Washington, D.C. during our third day of Orientation. Having the opportunity to go with my fellow classmates into the heart of the city, then allowed a couple hours to just explore was amazing.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?

They are very knowledgeable about their subject areas and have a genuine passion for what they do. Yet, they are approachable and easy to talk to.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

How friendly and caring everyone everyone seems to be, from the administration and faculty to the security and IT staff.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

I am completely in love with every single class I am taking. Each of my professors is energetic, interesting, and so knowledgeable. I find the Honors Program very rewarding, and because of the Honors Program I was able to sign up for an Honors history class called Zombies in U.S. History. This is a quirky, fun and demanding class, where we learn about U.S. history through cinema and find an interesting spin on our world views.

When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Right now I am singing in the jazz ensemble at night. This is a new genre and entirely new experience for me. The ensemble rehearsals are on campus, yet the group is filled with many members of the community. I am enjoying every second.
