Graduation Year: 2014 Majors: History Major for Secondary Education, Communication Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design Home Town: Baltimore, Md. High School: Eastern Technical High School Why did you choose Hood College? When I visited Hood, it was my fourth and final college to visit. While I was taking my tour, I looked at my parents and we had the same look on our faces. This was the college for me. I fell in love with the campus. I knew that this was where I would make the friends that would last a lifetime. Everything that I saw from the tour was exactly what I wanted; small classes, friendly campus, and a safe feeling. This was the place I wanted to call home for the next four years. Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus? I am senator for 2014's Class Council, which then makes me a member of SGA. I am also tour coordinator for STARs, which is the campus tour guide group. I am a resident assistant, and also an active member of Campus Activities Board. What did you gain from that experience? I have gained more than I imagined from the leadership positions I hold. I have learned time management and how to interact with staff members. What is your most memorable experience at Hood? Living in Smith Hall my freshman year was my most memorable experience so far. My freshman year, Smith Hall was known as the freshman dorm. The late nights, movie parties in the lounge, studying together, those are the moments I will never forget. I met my best friends in Smith Hall and I will forever be grateful. What do you value most about your relationships with your professors? I value the ability to talk to my professors not just about course work, but also about my personal life. My professors want to see me succeed so they help wherever and whenever they can to make sure that happens. Also, they get to know me personally, which would probably not happen if I attended a larger college. What is something that surprised you about Hood? The thing that surprised me most about Hood was how easy it was to get involved. I love everything in which I am involved and I would not change it for the world. I hope to expand the number of clubs and organizations of which I am a member each year. What is your favorite campus event? My all time favorite event at Hood is May Madness. This is a week of hanging out, doing nothing and loving life. It is the week before finals in the spring semester. I love the crab feast, the outdoor festival, tie dying and everything else. There is so much to do during that week that I can't pick just one activity. |
