Why did you choose Hood College?
Hood has all of the elements I was looking for in my college experience—a location of prosperity, research opportunity with the faculty in my subject of study, and the right size to ensure a quality education. It also provides an avenue for me to continue running as part of the cross country and track teams.
Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?
As a resident assistant, I have worked with several amazing staff memberss to create floor and building communities. During my senior year, I will help lead an RA staff in Coblentz Hall as the head resident assistant. In the community, I have volunteered in several settings, one ofwhich includes helping community members with mental health crises. As an athlete, I have competed in several states with a dedicated and talented team.
What did you gain from that experience?
I have learned a lot of communication and crisis reduction skills through both experiences. I have learned the skills necessary to work closely with staff members to complete tasks and achieve goals.
What is your most memorable experience at Hood?
My experiences as an RA collectively have challenged me in unforgettable, yet rewarding ways. Each of the students, the staff members and the time we spend together add to my collegiate experience at Hood.
What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?
I value their unwavering dedication to their respective fields of study and their willingness to share that with students.
What is something that surprised you about Hood?
I am always surprised to learn more about Hood's history and some of the contributions its alumni have made to the world.
What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
Academically, I enjoyed an English course that explored vices and virtues in literature. It challenged me to consider the world and the role of my actions.
When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I find enjoyment in working with other students or community members in the different organizations available to me. My time outside of the classroom is typically filled by memories of being with other students in several different settings. At Hood, one's involvement is entirely an individual's responsibility, but with so many opportunities, it is very likely for students to be involved in many ways.
What is your favorite campus event?
Each year, fall convocation has allowed me to watch the upperclassmen come together to celebrate another year at Hood. It is when the College welcomes its students back to campus with excitement and hope for collective success.
