Why did you choose Hood College?
I choose Hood for its academics, how close it is to Washington D.C., to play college sports, and the beautiful campus.
Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?
I am the Student Government Association's president for 2013-2014, and I served as the finance chair and treasurer for the 2012-2013 school year. I am interning at Congressman Delaney's district office in the fall of 2013. I will be the men's swim team captain for the 2013-2014 season.
What did you gain from that experience?
I have gained valuable experience as student government treasurer. This experience taught me how the Hood community works as a whole.
What is your most memorable experience at Hood?
My most memorable experience at Hood was my first Policies for Dollars. All of Memorial Hall was reciting our hall's chants in front of the dorm.
What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?
The most valuable part of my relationship with my professors is knowing that they are there to help me. Whether it is about their class or another one, they are always willing to help with any problem that I may have.
What is something that surprised you about Hood?
The thing that surprised me most about Hood was how available the professors are to talk to students. I would see the head of my department at the gym, and she would always make a point of asking me how classes were going and if I needed anything.
What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
My most rewarding experience academically was finishing my capstone course in political science. Getting to do independent research and working with my professor collecting statistical data was a truly rewarding experience.
When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
When I'm not in class I am normally at the pool. Either for swim practice or teaching swimming lessons.
What is your favorite campus event?
