Graduation Year: 2012
Major: Double Major, Mathematics and Biology
Minor: Computer Science
Why did you choose Hood College?
I loved the feel of it. The small school, pretty campus, and nice students. Like a family.
Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?
Yes. I was an overnight Host for Hood, and loved it! I got to meet fun and interesting perspective Hood students. Hood also helped me get summer internships, one with Networking and one with BTI (Plant research institute at Cornel) doing bioinformatics. I am currently starting an internship in my last semester at USDA (on Fort Derrick), thanks to my adviser!
What did you gain from that experience?
A lot of knowledge, and a feel for what I would like to do after graduation
What is your most memorable experience at Hood?
The friends I made and the time I spent on campus. I I loved getting together at meals, and walking to the academic buildings all times of the night for "study parties" with friends.
What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?
I can talk to them honestly. I can talk to my advisors about anything! Even if it is my thoughts not pertaining to that major
What is something that surprised you about Hood?
How it can feel like you are separated from the world, even with Fort Derrick and downtown so close.
What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
I loved being a TA for Calc 1. I took AP Calc in High School, so this was an opportunity for me to learn the way Hood teaches it, as well as allowing me to help other students.
When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Hang out with friends, we sit in Whitaker and play ping-pong, pool or just watch movies.
What is your favorite campus event?
The Regal movie nights! I have never been to one with the campus, but the tickets they sell are good for any time, so I stock up on them and then go with my friends whenever we have time. I also enjoy May madness! Crab feast!!!
