Graduation Year: 2014
Why did you choose Hood College?
I chose Hood because of its personal touch in everything it does. Unlike larger state schools, students aren't a number here. Professors actually care about the performance and learning of their students.
Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?
I'm the president of Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, and a captain on the Track and Field Team. I'm employed by Sheppard Pratt as a residential counselor at the Jefferson School.
What did you gain from that experience?
My leadership experiences have been absolutely invaluable to my personal growth here at Hood College. I feel that I would not have had nearly this many opportunities had I gone to a state school.
What is your most memorable experience at Hood?
My most memorable experience at Hood is probably my first semester here. I think that your first semester of your freshman year is something that you will never experience again.
What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?
I absolutely love how close I am with some of my professors. I've had the opportunity to present original research with Professor MacDougall at the Southeastern Psychological Association last March through that close relationship.
What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
My most rewarding experience would have to be presenting my original research with Professor MacDougall at the Southeastern Psychological association last March. I was presenting my own research next to people with doctorates from huge schools. It was a great experience.
When you aren't in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I like to exercise, be with my friends, and I recently picked up gardening.
What is your favorite campus event?
My favorite campus event is most likely graduation. I think it's great to see people that I've known for four years take the next step in their lives.
