FREDERICK, Md.—Representatives from more than 30 local nonprofit and service organizations will be at Hood College to recruit volunteers and acquaint students, faculty staff and Frederick community members with services offered by their organizations.
The annual community service fair, which will be held Sept. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. in the Commons Room in the College’s Whitaker Campus Center, will offer a forum for Hood and local community members to meet with organization representatives to learn about volunteer opportunities and community services available in the Frederick area. Refreshments will be served.
Local organizations that focus on diverse issues such as domestic violence prevention, health care and housing for the disadvantaged, immigrant services, historic preservation, literacy, mediation, homeless animals and service dogs, sustainable renewable biofuels, disaster relief and the foster care system will be among those on hand to discuss their programs.
