FREDERICK, Md.—A panel discussion titled "Revolution
in the Age of New Media Contextualizing the Popular Uprisings in the Middle
East and North Africa," will be held April 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Hood College
in the Whitaker Campus Center Commons.
Presented by the global studies
program, this exploration of the underlying factors regarding the uprisings in
the Middle East and North Africa will include topics such as politics,
economics and religion and new media technology.
Panelists will be Hood faculty
members Hoda Zaki, Ph.D., department of political Science; Sang Kim, Ph.D., department
of economics and management; Stephen Wilson, Ph.D., department of religion and
philosophy; Ahmed Salem, Ph.D., department of computer science; Donald Wright,
Ph.D., department of foreign languages and literatures and David Gurzick,
Ph.D., department of economics and management.
The Colloquium lecture,
"Sneaks, Peeks, and WikiLeaks: Anarchy, Censorship and the Brave New World
of Digital Media," with Mark Feldstein, will directly follow the panel
discussion.
