FREDERICK, Md.—An annual fall celebration for children in the Frederick and surrounding communities is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hood College.
"Safe Harvest," sponsored by the Hood College Chapter of Mortar Board, provides children ages 12 and under the opportunity to enjoy a safe and fun-filled evening of games, arts and crafts, and trick or treating on Hood’s campus. Parents or guardians are required to accompany their children throughout the evening.
This year's festivities will begin at 5 p.m. in the Whitaker Campus Center Commons with games and activities. The children and their parents, escorted by Hood students, will have the opportunity to trick or treat throughout Hood's five residence halls beginning at 5:15 p.m. with the last group departing at 7:15 p.m.
In conjunction with Safe Harvest, Mortar Board will sponsor a fund-raising drive to benefit Mortar Board's literacy campaign. Event participants are encouraged to bring a new or gently used book, appropriate for children from newborns to young adult. The books will be donated to children in the Frederick community.
Mortar Board is a national senior honor society promoting service, leadership and scholarship among college seniors nationwide.
