FREDERICK, Md.—The seventh annual Randall Family Chamber Music Concert, made possible by a generous gift in honor of the Randall family, will be performed Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Music Hall at Hood College.
The free concert will feature the early music group, L’Arabesque Baroque, performing European music of the late 17th and 18th centuries on historically accurate instruments representative of the period. Cited by one critic as "playing with exceptional eloquence and understanding," the group's performances have been well received by local audiences.
Performers include Barbara Spicher; flute; Douglas Wolters, baroque cello and viola da gamba; William Simms, baroque guitar, lute and theorbo; and Coriolana Simone, viola da gamba. The program selections range from Handel to Telemann, along with pieces by Marais, Oswald, Piccinini and Boismortier.
Previous concerts have included the Appalachian Wind Quintet; the Mistral Winds; the British Baroque ensemble, Red Priest; the Calder Quartet; and music for organ and brass, featuring Wayne L. Wold and leading brass players from the area.
Brodbeck Music Hall is handicapped accessible.
