Prerequisite: EDUC 515 or the equivalent. (3 credits)
A course designed to acquaint students with a variety of reading disabilities, their possible
etiologies and initial diagnostic procedures. Strategies for identifying gifted readers and
for measuring general reading achievement will be addressed. Emphasis will be on the
construction of informal reading inventories; the assessment of commercial instruments; the
uses of assessment data from state, local and classroom assessments; and thassessment results to parents and school personnel.
