Prerequisite: MATH 502 or equivalent and current teaching certification. (First semester—even years/3 credits)

This course examines current research and accepted practices in teaching algebra in the
secondary school, based on national and state standards. The focus is on problem solving
and mathematical reasoning, communication, and integrating algebra with other disciplines.
Students will learn to use appropriate instructional materials, including technology, to support
the teaching and learning of algebra.
