This course extends students’ knowledge, understanding and application of theories of
child development and the teaching-learning-assessment process, and offers the student the
opportunity to carefully consider and apply the findings of educational, psychological and
brain-based research and theory. A semester-long case study of one subject of the student’s
choice helps the student to thoughtfully apply the results of the research to his/her teaching
practice, collect data to document change in the subject’s academic or social behavior and
skillfully analyze and reflect on the outcomes of the case study.(Students enrolled in the M.S.
Degree Programs in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction are required to
complete this course within the first
12 credits)
