Prerequisite: ENV 502 or permission of the instructor. (1 credit)
The principles of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) will focus on applications to
environmental science ranging from pollution monitoring to land-use planning to endangered
species conservation. The course will introduce the ArcViewGIS software package in the
context of a variety of applications and projects. Students will put this knowledge to use
immediately through laboratory exercises, and they will refine their skills through the
development of a GIS modeling project.
