Prerequisites: 5 courses in German at the 200 level or above, or departmental approval. (3 credits)
The interaction of a “cultural landscape” and literature from the turn of the century to the year
2000 will be studied in works by Alfred Döeblin, Nelly Sachs, Bertolt Brecht, Christa Wolf,
Zehra Cirak, etc. Movies will be used to provide a visual background and further topics for
discussion.
