Prerequisite: ARTS 503 or 505. (2 credits/lab fee)
A concentration on advanced throwing skills, to develop the confidence and strength which
frees the student to move toward individual aesthetic expression, the course provides a more
in-depth coverage of specific concepts with focus on individual needs for building skill,
efficiency and personal direction. Students will refine technique and increase efficiency in the
use of the potter’s wheel through continued study of methods of building and maintaining
structural integrity in the wheel-thrown form, and the acquisition of psychomotor skills
through exercises that are not product oriented.
