Prerequisites: ARTS 511 and ARTS 521. (3 credits/lab fee)
Directed study research and laboratory testing with selected topics in clay and glaze
composition, clay/glaze relationship, color, texture and new materials. A continuing study
of clay bodies, the properties desired by the studio potter and testing and correction of body
formulas such as stoneware, porcelain, flameware, throwing and handbuilding, plus slips,sigilatta and glaze base.
