(4 credits/3 class and 3 laboratory hours)
Birds have profoundly influenced human cultures as food, pets and pests, in sport and fashion, and as religious symbols and artistic inspiration. Today birds have an expanded role as research models, biomonitors and flagship species for conservation. This course will use birds to explore topics in evolution, physiology, ecology and conservation biology. Students will develop field biology skills to identify common, local birds by sight and sound.
