Prerequisites: Junior or senior standing and fulfillment of the Aesthetic Appreciation Literature section of the Core. (Second semester—even years/3 credits)
This course first studies traditional notions of narrative in light of over half a millennium of the printed word, and then considers how the new technology of digital narratives— hypertext fiction, the World Wide Web, virtual reality, e-mail and video games—are changing notions of social identity, literacy and reality, and how we construct and “read” the world around us.
