The Hodson and Whitaker galleries host a variety of exhibitions each year, including four or five visiting artist exhibitions, an undergraduate student exhibition, graduate student exhibitions and a faculty exhibition. Periodically, Hodson Gallery sponsors a variety of juried exhibitions.
Anyone creating a sound body of original work is eligible to apply for an exhibition by sending application materials for consideration by the exhibition jury that meets in early fall and late spring. The exhibition committee looks for a variety of media and expression from year to year.
The annual juried student exhibition is held each spring and is open to students currently enrolled in classes at Hood. Students do not need to be an art major to enter. Each year a different juror not affiliated with the College is selected to award the prizes.
The graduate student exhibition features work completed by students who are completing their graduate research. The graduate students take on all responsibilities for their exhibition, including planning, advertising, hanging and taking down, and the opening reception.
Special events include juried exhibitions, gallery talks and slide lectures by visiting artists.
Hodson Gallery exhibition proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis and juried the last week in September and the first week in April. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Ryan Browning, gallery director.
Annual Alumni Exhibition
All alumnae and alumni are eligible to apply for this opportunity to show their work. Up to three works may be entered; the Annual Alumnae and Alumni Exhibition Registration Form must be attached to each work submitted.
To apply for an exhibition in Hodson Gallery, submit the following items:
- Proposal letter
- Sheet of slides or images
- Curriculum Vitae
- Artist statement
- Biographical statement
