Overview
The Department of Education offers undergraduate and post-baccalaureate teacher education programs leading to certification in early childhood education; elementary/special education; and seven secondary education and Art Education (K-12) certification programs in secondary subjects areas of biology, chemistry, English, French, history, mathematics and Spanish.Master of Science degrees in Curriculum and Instruction are offered in early childhood education, elementary education, elementary school science and mathematics, secondary education and special education. Master of Science degrees leading to advanced certification are offered in Educational Leadership and in Curriculum and Instruction with a reading specialist concentration.
Hood College meets the Title II requirements of the Higher Education Act. The pass rate on the Praxis is 88%. Refer to the Maryland State Department of Education's Web site at www.msde.state.md.us for more information.
