Associate professor as well as the department co-chair, coordinates the graduate reading specialist program and teaches courses within that program. Koitz also serves as the director of the Hood College Summer Reading Clinic. Her professional interests include emergent literacy, and spelling and writing development in young children. She received her undergraduate degree from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, her master's degree from the University of Georgia and her doctorate from the University of Virginia.
