The Sophia M. Libman NEH Humanities Professor

The Hood College Center for the Humanities is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Prime, Ph.D., as the Sophia M. Libman NEH professor.

Prime, a film historian, earned a master's degree from New York University and a doctoral degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she completed a dissertation on blacklisted filmmakers in postwar Europe. She was a recipient of a Fulbright Advanced Student Fellowship for France. Prime has been active in film programming and production, and worked with numerous film festivals and on the independent feature film, "Lulu on the Bridge." She has published widely in both academic and mainstream journals and co-authored the companion book to "Lulu on the Bridge."

Past Libman professors have specialized in the fields of Classical Studies (Genevieve Gessert, 2002-2006) and Latin American Studies (Ricardo Santos, 2006-2008).
