Students wishing to enroll for more than 18.5 credits must obtain permission from the Committee on Academic Standards and Policies, and will be charged additional tuition on the per credit hour basis for credits over 18.5.

Room and Board

The room and board charge excludes Thanksgiving, winter, spring and summer breaks.

Meal Plan 1 (required of freshmen students):

  • Unlimited meals per week during the scheduled hours of operation in Coblentz Dining Hall.
  • $50 allowance per semester for use at the Hood Blazer snack bar and five guest meals.

Meal Plan 2 (available to sophomore, junior and senior residents and all commuter students):

  • 15 meals per semester during the scheduled hours of operation in Coblentz Dining Hall.
  • $100 allowance per semester for use at the Hood Blazer snack bar and three guest meals.

Meal Plan 3 (available to sophomore, junior and senior residents and all commuter students):

  • 10 meals per week during the scheduled hours of operation in Coblentz Dining Hall.
  • $150 declining balance per semester and two guest meals.

Commuter Meal Plan (available to commuter students only):

  • 50 meals per semester during the scheduled hours of operation in Coblentz Dining Hall.
  • $200 declining balance per semester.

Comprehensive Fee

The comprehensive fee covers student activities, academic records processing and technology/communications access.

Medical Insurance

Full-time students must have adequate medical insurance coverage, either through a family plan or under the Hood College-sponsored medical plan. The charge for the Hood College-sponsored plan is listed on the fall tuition billing. A signed waiver along with proof of coverage OR payment of Hood's annual premium, must be provided by August 15. The College plan provides medical coverage for the 12-month period August 15 through August 14. Students who have not returned their required medical history forms will receive only emergency health services until their forms have been filed at the Health Center.
