How do I apply?

Applicants with 24 or more college credits:
  • Transfer Application
  • Official transcript(s) from all previous colleges/universities
  • $35 application fee (waived if you apply online)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5, for all prior college work

Applicants with 12-23 college credits*:

  • Transfer Application
  • Official transcripts from all previous colleges/universities.
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT or ACT scores (if you have graduated high school within the previous two years)
  • $35 application fee (waived if you apply online)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5, for all prior college work

What is Hood's transfer application deadline?

Spring Semester: (January)
Priority Deadline: November 1
Regular Deadline: January 10

Fall Semester: (August)
Priority Deadline: February 15
Regular Deadline: August 10

In addition, we also recommend all students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Some grant and other funds are limited, so the earlier you complete your admissions application and apply for aid, the more likely you are to receive all funding for which you are eligible. You may complete the FAFSA online via www.fafsa.ed.gov. Hood's school code is 002076.

How will my Associate of Arts degree transfer?

Students who transfer to Hood College with an A.A., A.S. or A.T.T. degree from a community college in the State of Maryland will have met all Hood lower-level General Education (core) requirements. (Nine additional credits are required in the upper division Core at Hood)

Will my credits from previous and current college work transfer to Hood?

Hood College will accept up to 70 credits from an accredited community college and up to 94 credits from a 4-year university. For a class to transfer, it must be an academic course in which you earned a grade of "C-" or above. Students must complete their last 30 credits at Hood College.

Can I be advised on transferring before I apply?

Yes, our transfer counselors are available to meet with you to discuss your transfer! During your appointment we will assist you in developing your personalized transfer plan. Arrange your transfer appointment and campus visit by calling our admissions office (301) 696-3400.

Are scholarships or financial aid available?

Yes. Scholarships are available to full-time students and financial aid is available to students enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester as a degree-seeking candidate. We offer a wide range of financial assistance options.

How can I tour the campus?

What majors/degrees are available to Transfer students?

Students are eligible to pursue any of our 27 majors.

What majors/degrees does Hood offer for students who work during the day?

Students who transfer to Hood with an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree (or the equivalent), can complete the Management Program or the Computer Science Program part-time by taking evening courses.
