MEN'S BASKETBALL (13-3, 6-1 CAC): Hood extended its school-record winning streak to six games with wins over Waynesburg College and York College (Pa.). Hood is now 7-0 at home and has won nine straight home contests dating back to last season. In the game against Waynesburg, sophomore Ryan Junghans broke teammate Tim Abercrombie's single-season three-point record with 54 threes in just his 15th game. Junior Jesse Gutekunst notched back-to-back double-doubles to give him 24 for his career. With the win over York, the Blazers earned their third victory over 2006 NCAA Tournament teams. The Blazers have a busy week ahead as they take to the road for the first time since Dec. 30 on Tuesday against Salisbury before traveling to Gallaudet University Thursday. Hood returns to Gov. Thomas Johnson High School Saturday hosting the University of Mary Washington in the first game of a doubleheader with the women's team at 2 p.m. All students 18 and under will be admitted FREE to both games of the doubleheader.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (1-13, 1-3 AWCC): Hood suffered a pair of setbacks against Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference rivals last week, but look to get back on the winning track this week. Freshman Sara Hartlaub tallied a career-high 15 points in Hood's loss to Trinity. Hartlaub is ranked among the leaders in NCAA Division III in blocked shots, averaging 2.6 per night. Freshman Jennifer Willison led the Blazers with 14 points and nine rebounds against Chatham. Sophomore Sara Wastler leads the AWCC in free throw percentage and three-point field goal percentage. This week the Blazers take on a pair of future Capital Athletic Conference rivals. Hood travels to Washington, D.C., Thursday to face Gallaudet University at 6 p.m. before returning to Gov. Thomas Johnson High School Saturday to entertain the University of Mary Washington in the second game of a doubleheader with the men's team at 4 p.m. All students 18 and under will be admitted FREE to both games of the doubleheader.

Jason Kinder took top honors in the 100 back (58.55) and in the 200 free in 1:52.20, Hood's fastest time of the year. Matt Haynes was Hood's second individual winner in the 50 free (23.36) and Stu Kaufman captured first place in the 500 free (5:40.95). Matt Caron finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:17.52) and third in the 100 free (54.12). The Blazers host two meets this week to close out the regular season. On Wednesday Hood entertains Frostburg State University at 4 p.m. and on Saturday the Blazers host Penn State Altoona at 1 p.m. at the Hood Aquatics Center.
