KUDOS: The classes of 1957 and 1982 showed their Hood spirit at the Alumnae and Alumni Luncheon when they presented their class gifts to President Ronald J. Volpe, Ph.D. The Class of 1957 class gift committee members, Sarah Bulin Hanson and Ann Fortenbaugh Eicholtz, presented $543,820. Their gift represents a class participation rate of 75 percent. The 1982 class gift chair, Ellen Drogin Rogers, presented their gift of $82,363, which denotes a class participation rate of 39 percent. BECOME A LEGACY AT HOOD: This is your chance to help a current Hood student. The Ring Scholarship Committee is seeking Hood rings to give to current students as part of the Legacy Ring Program. The ring recipients will be selected based on an application essay, grade point average and service to Hood. Deserving Hood students will be given your ring, which will have your graduation year inscribed on it, as a legacy ring. Not ready to part with that ring yet? You can still be a part of the ring tradition by making a contribution to the Ring Scholarship Fund, which is separate from your Annual Funds donation. These donations will be used to give deserving students full or partial scholarships toward the purchase of their rings. HODSON GALLERY EXHIBITS ON DISPLAY: Two ceramic exhibits will be on display from June 2-18 in Hood's Hodson Gallery in the Tatem Arts Center. Trish Limbaugh's porcelain artwork captures the concept of layers that both expose and conceal while Cameron Petke's works feature large ceramic bells that portray symbols of events that and people who are slipping from the collective memory. ANNUAL SUMMER CONCERTS: For the 23rd year in a row, Hood will be offering a series of free summer concerts. The Summer Chamber Music Festival, under the direction Noel Lester, will take place on five Thursdays in July and August at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., at 8 p.m. The air-conditioned church has plenty of free parking and ample handicapped accessibility. Tickets are not required for the concerts and there is no reserved seating. OCONIS EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS: Members of the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) named junior attack Will
Oconis of the Hood men's lacrosse team to the
2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Men's At-Large Second
Team. A business major from Baltimore, Oconis was one of 11 student-athletes in the district (Delaware,
Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and West

MEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES TWO RECRUITS: Head men's basketball
coach Tom Dickman announced that forwards Tyler Snoots and Rian
McHenry will attend Hood and play basketball this fall.
Snoots, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound post player, joins the Hood squad after
a successful career at nearby Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. McHenry is
a 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward from Potomac High School in Dumfries, Va. Click
