Freshman Garrett Williams had a career-high 13 points in an 84-72 Hood loss to Shenandoah in a game that featured 10 ties and 17 lead changes. Owning a 62-61 lead with seven minutes to play, the Blazers were unable to stop the Hornets, who made 8-of-9 foul shots in the final four minutes of the game to ice the victory. Tim Abercrombie (above) finished with 12 points and four assists for Hood while Tyler Snoots had a season-high 11 points and five rebounds. The Blazers open Capital Athletic Conference play Wednesday night at Frederick Community College against York College (Pa.).

Hood’s women’s basketball team captured its first win of the season, 88-31, in a record-setting game Tuesday against Wilson College. Jen Willison (above) broke school records for single-game scoring, field goals made and field goals attempted, scoring 39 points on 17-of-30 shooting. Sara Wastler became the first Blazer in nine years to register a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and a school-record 13 assists. Wastler’s 13 assists helped Hood tie the team single-game assist record of 32. Allyson Lethbridge also hit double figures, scoring a season-high 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Hood has a busy week ahead with three games in five days, including a pair of Capital Athletic Conference matchups.
